Autodesk Inventor is integrated with all types of engineering and manufacturing production equipment, including CAM software, CAE software, and CAE manufacturing planning software. Autodesk Inventor is a powerful 3D Solid Modeling application that incorporates parametric capabilities, which allow the construction of the models in parametric form; objects can be instantiated from a library or built upon a geometric library. The application can be used for 2D and 3D modeling, detailing, analysis, and mechanical design, including airflow, piping, sizing, and machining. The Product Design & Manufacturing Collection includes Autodesk Inventor (formerly Autodesk HSM and Inventor HSM), Autodesk CFD,and Autodesk Vault, as well as products based on other technologies, including Inventor Nastran (formerly Nastran In-CAD), Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Inventor CAD, Autodesk Vault CAD, Autodesk Vault CAM, Autodesk Vault Design, Autodesk Vault Manufacturing, Autodesk Vault Fabrication, Autodesk Vault Vehicle Design, Autodesk Vault BIM, Autodesk Vault Architecture, Autodesk Vault Utility, Autodesk Vault Medical, Autodesk Vault Plant and Factory, Autodesk Vault Logistics, and Autodesk Vault Construction. Autodesk Vault is a cloud-based solution combining 3D printing, change management, data extraction, and service, reporting, and delivery capabilities, and provides a workflow to track documents and assets such as drawings, designs, models, and technical reports, and automatically generates version histories. Autodesk Vault also incorporates a 3D printing functionality for the material addition and removal of both physical and electronic parts.
The Inventor products are used in the design of mechanical and electrical internal combustion engines, for example, Vantec's Racing Cars, and Mercedes AMG racing cars. Autodesk acquired Thinkful, a New York-based startup designing educational software for online courses, in February 2017, for $78 million dollars. Thinkful created the online course materials for the University of California, Berkeley's course in Game Theory for the subject of Game Theory, and for Harvard University's course in Game Theory. 7211a4ac4a
